From One Mom to Another,
I have been blessed with three children, two stepchildren and seven grandchildren. With a background as a personal chef and interior designer, I enjoy nothing more than creating, planning and giving a great party - Christmas Open Houses, neighborhood pig roasts, wedding rehearsal dinners, baby showers and countless birthday parties.
I enjoyed the bounty of a rural life in the 70s and 80s, taking for granted home grown fruit and vegetables, freshly laid eggs and fresh, unpasteurized milk. I baked bread, canned preserves and froze the produce from my garden. Composting and recycling was a natural way of life.
Today more than ever, we all need to be aware of the footprint we leave behind. Even the samllest changes we make can have a positive impact on our planet. It occurred to me that there was an opportunity to improve our approach to giving children's birthday parties in such a way to make them more eco-friendly. Less paper, less plastic, more use of natural materials, more repurposing of party supplies...this could be a change in the right direction!
I hope someday to leave the birthday supply business greener than when I entered it. Check us out and think about what you can do to give a greener party!
I'm also working on a links page with some green sites of interest to Moms. If you have any to share, please let me know. I'll be glad to post them.
I look forward to helping you create a greener celebration and providing a resource for green entertaining in your home. We can make a difference, one mom and one party at a time! Thanks for visiting and come back often!
Terry
